Asad is responsible for administering a broad range of research initiatives and leading SZABIST’s efforts to develop a world-class excellence in research. He consolidates all research activities at SZABIST with various academic institutions and industries through joint collaborations and oversees any commercial activities resulting from them. His portfolio of projects includes applied research in Renewable Energy, Bio-engineering, Agronomics, Cyber Security and Entertainment Media. He also serves as a Director of Operations for Al-Muraqib, an Abu Dhabi-based startup specializing in innovative wireless solutions.  

Asad has a background in research working on RF MEMS within nanotechnology. He also worked in the telecommunications, oil & gas, power and construction industries managing projects with Bilfinger Berger AG and T-Mobile USA. He completed his BSc, summa cum laude, from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute specializing in Lasers & Opto-electronics and holds a MSc. in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.  He is a full time faculty at SZABIST and plans to pursue a PhD in biotechnology.
